HCISPP: This book is all you need to pass!

I took and past my HCISPP (ISC2) certification. I used several books, but this one is far and about the best. It was complete, interesting and motivating. Sean Murphy know what he's talking about.

Should you be studying for the HCISPP certification, this book is all you need.

Highly recommended book for preparing for the HCISPP�

Excellent book and great study material for the (ISC)� HCISPP� - HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner exam. I only had 8 days to study for the test, and three days were spent taking the (ISC)� classroom training, which left only 5 for self-study. I ordered Sean's book a week ago, got it last Friday, and read it cover-to-cover over the weekend. It's a great supplement to the HCISPP� CBK. The book covered a lot of ground in a readily digestible format, in some ways it was better than the CBK. At a minimum I recommend reading them in tandem. In summary, I highly recommend this book, particularly if you're planning on taking the HCISPP�. And yes, I passed the exam last night. Thank you Sean!!!

Excellent - this book covers all the bases!

An excellent book. I really enjoyed the way the material is developed. Unlike many books of this nature - where I find there is a lot of fluff - I thought that this book was dense with information and every page had relevant and interesting points. My copy has lots of underlining now, as well as tabs marking important areas that I will re-read. It's a great reference, very thoroughly researched.

About the Author
Moses Fayngold is Special Lecturer at the Physics Department of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he is also involved in the research activities of the Multi-Disciplinary Optical Science and Engineering Program. He has been lecturing for some 20 years on special relativity, both to non-specialized audiences in public planetariums as well as to undergraduate and graduate students.

Many applications of Special Relativity

This book has many applications of Special Relativity. The formulas are developed de novo and then applied to many situations in mechanics, optics, electrodynamics and quantum mechanics. The paradoxes of Relativity are well discussed, e.g, the twin paradox. The explanations are concise and clear. This book is a good text to read after another more elementary book on the same subject entitled It's About Time by David Mermin.

An Excellent Treatment of a Very Large Number of Aspects of Special Relativity

In addition to detailing the foundations of Special Relativity (SR), more importantly, this book thoroughly discusses and analyzes very many concrete examples of subjects in SR, some of which I've seen before but really didn't understand.

The improvement in my understanding is due to the way the author merges his explanations of the physical details with the mathematical details.

And to help us with visual imaging, the examples are accompanied by detailed and appropriate illustrations.

The author also usually avoids the use of more abstract matrix and tensor mathematics and thereby makes the book suited for a much larger range of potential readers.

Rousing and thoughtful Age of Sail adventure

The story opens with an action with barbary pirates, ones that HMS Prometheus will encounter again among her many foes in the Mediterranean. The line of battle ship commanded by Captain Sir Richard Banks at last joins Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson’s fleet. Through Sir Richard’s eyes, we glimpse the great man and his band of brothers at their council of war. Renown naval figures are not the interest of the tale, however, that lies with the officers and people of HMS Prometheus; lieutenants Mr. King and Mr. Caulfield, Captain Banks, and the naval surgeon and his wife, Robert and Kate Manning.

One major fleet battle, and several single ship encounters, provide thrilling action, but author Bond’s great achievement is in the humanity of his characters and their situations. Mr. King must recover from injury and learn to cope with changed physical capabilities, while Mr. Manning experiences the guilt of a physician who may have done his patient as much harm as good. And a young maid brought aboard by Mrs. Manning ends up changing the lives of several of HMS Prometheus’ officers. This eighth installment in the Fighting Sail series is both a rousing sea adventure, and a sensitive study of a ship of war’s people and their culture in the age of Nelson.

Eighth book in the Fighting Sail Series -- Destined to be a classic in age of sail literary fiction.

In HMS Prometheus as with every book in the Fighting Sail Series, we meet new characters and become more fully acquainted with older ones. Some characters die or otherwise leave the story which give the entire works a realistic and life-like feeling and keeps me guessing. The author has a comfortable command of his subject and setting, spiriting us throughout the entire ship as we watch officers, men, and challenged by a variety of situations. There is plenty of chasing and fighting action, as expected, but what I particularly admire and enjoy about this book is how each character has his or her own story arc that intertwines with the rest of the characters' dilemmas. Seaman Flint's story particularly resonated with me, as did that of Kate, the surgeon's wife, and her maid Poppy.

HMS Prometheus has an unsettling ending which has me anxiously awaiting book 9 so that I can find out what happens to the rest of this ship's company I have come to know and care about. All in all this is a well imagined, well crafted series that feels authentic and fully lived. I loved it.

I"ve read all Bond's books so far and this one is not up to the others but I'm giving it 3 stars as I do any book that I'm willing to read all the way through. I frequently had the feeling that Bond didn't write the book as it didn't seem to match my memories of the others. There were long stretches where some character was navel-gazing or wool-gathering. One action scene occurs where an officer, risking his life in a dangerous task, finds himself so self-absorbed he forgets what he's doing! This with Barbary pirates trying to kill him!!

There are also scenes where I frankly couldn't tell what was going on--often the choice of words in the dialogue seemed vague. Anyhow, fans of this author will probably enjoy this book but not rank it in the top tier.

Diana Rowland has lived her entire life below the Mason-Dixon line. Angel Crawford is at it again

Angel Crawford is at it again in WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE GONE WILD taking on multiple plot threads, dodging cadaver dogs, and battling inner demons. The story was a clever spin on Zombiefest-gone-bad, and things are starting to come together for the heroine on the work front. I was happy that Saberton was put on the back burner for an installment, and that Marcus is now firmly in the “friend zone”. Still, I did take issue with Angel’s regression, and the ending wasn’t ideal.

This novel took a turn for the silly with less emphasis on corporate espionage, and more on redneck drama—think too much alcohol paired with trailer park logic and a doomsday prep kit. Crawford’s paranoia also catches up with her when Allen & Dr. Nikas, her bosses, confront her about two separate issues, but not for the reasons you’d suspect. It was nice seeing the protagonist’s support system establish itself, and I just love her dad to bits!

Angel’s been on a path of self-improvement for most of this series; she got her GED, kicked her bad habits, and is working hard on building her career. However, I knew that a relapse was brewing, and would have been ok with it had the author not used it solely as a gimmick, and as a way to forgive amateur mistakes. Crawford still had plenty of awesome moments, but her decision making wasn’t up to snuff, and I was bummed that her character was somewhat devalued because of her actions.

Allison McLemore’s narration is the difference between these books going on my someday pile or my pre-order list. Whenever the next installment is on the horizon it becomes a rat race to find where the audio is available in Canada because the last two volumes have been difficult to find. But, McLemore’s performance is worth the added legwork because her Louisiana voices are beyond compare, and her snark compliments Diana Rowland’s humour to a T.

WHITE TRASH ZOMBIE GONE WILD got the job done.

Another Winner In This Series.

I started this book and pretty much read it in marathon fashion with very few breaks, it was great, I wanted to see where things were going and was not terribly disappointed.

So with THAT out of the way, I can usually decide if a book was 4 Stars or 5 Stars with only a little trouble sometimes but this one really has kept me waffling back and forth for most of today. The story was great, I was engrossed pretty much all the time BUT it seemed like our petite protagonist for this series got a heaping dose of TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) in too many scenes it seemed to me.

You can count on one thing in all these books, the writing is top notch and the stories addicting but the cast of characters and the overarching plots were largely missing from this more local and a "bad guy" that you were never sure was even a "bad guy" (there was 1 that you did not have to wonder about).

Her struggle with her additive personality which we got a peek of at the end of the last book is in full swing this time and while it added drama and angst I am not sure it really made this a better book, I liked the smart, savvy and heroine that people always underestimated in previous books. We do see a bit of it in this story but not as much as we have grown to expect.

One of the things I did like about this story was the revelation that people she thought did not like her (or even hated her) turn out to be her friends and she never really knew it. There are two levels of plots here and 1 is local and 1 is loosely linked to the old corporate evil. She does seem to make some associations for clues out of thin air at times it seemed to me (or maybe I was reading too fast) and Diana Rowland did a great job on keeping me guessing exactly what Rosario was trying to do and the truth was a bit surprising.

I should mention that this story was pretty much 100% Urban Fantasy and not a romance in sight, maybe the barest hint of something in the future but a long way to go on that one.

Bottom Line: Another great story in this series, I felt not as good as the last two books but not by enough to really take away any major points, still love the series and I can see that part of what this book did was setup the next one. I really feel like we as readers have been cheated out of some revenge along the way but I can see that it is probably coming but at a much slower pace than my "revenge junkie" likes. So at the end of the day ... 4 Stars, great reading and anyone who is NOT reading this series is really cheating yourself out of some exceptional stories.

Excellent addition to series- Listen to the audio!

Diana Rowland and narrator Allison McLemore do it again. This is another fun and exciting adventure in this unique zombie series (which really needs to be read in order). I was a little worried at the beginning with the path Angel was taking but I should have had more faith in Ms. Rowland. I love reading about Angel Crawford! She is such a well-rounded character. She is far from perfect and sometimes makes stupid decisions but she's courageous and determined and her heart is always in the right place. She also has a great sense of humor. As always, Angel and all the other characters are expertly brought to life by narrator Allison McLemore. She is a fabulous narrator for this series. I highly recommend listening to these very fun audiobooks.
