About the Author
Michael J. Gething has been writing about military aeroplanes for over 30 years and has been a full-time journalist since 1973. Gunter Endres is an Aviation consultant and writer publishing numerous books and articles on aspects of civil aviation. Gunter is editor for Jane's Airport Review and Airline Business amongst others as well as being a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

This book provides a photo, drawing, and basic information on about 500
aircraft currently flying. The basic information includes: History,
variants, specifications, dimensions, and features. The back of the book
provides a glossary and international civil and national military aircraft
markings. There is no index in the back. There are a few errors related
to the aircraft listed on a page and the drawing of a version other than
what is listed on that page. Since there are so many aircraft flying
worldwide, one suggestion may be to make two books from this book and add
more aircraft/information. The following is a list of aircraft that are
not mentioned in the book: Grumman C-2 Greyhound, Lockheed EP-3E
